Meet Monty Buntin
Monty was born in Prescott, AZ where he still has family in the surrounding areas. He moved to Texas as a young man where he had the pleasure to work with one of cuttings greats, Buster Welch on quite a few occasions. Subsequently, he honed his skills under NCHA & PCCHA Hall of Fame rider and longtime friend, Tim Smith, back in 2009 & 2010. Since then, he has claimed many PCCHA weekend year end titles, made the finals at all the NCHA majors and continues to be one of the top Open riders in NCHA from the west coast. Monty was inducted into the NCHA Hall of Fame in 2020 after he crossed over the Million Dollar mark in March of 2019 and is currently working on his 3rd million. In June of 2019 Monty took a short break from shows to enjoy being with his family, Tessa, his wife and business partner and dad to his son Riggs who loves to do all things Dad does. He calls the Triple Crown Equestrian Center in Lincoln, CA home where he caters to all levels of cutting from beginner lessons for Amateurs to weekend haulers and aged events. He has teamed back up with his longtime friend, Tim Smith to start up Buntin & Smith Present showmanship clinics for cutters who want to advance their skills and learn the secrets of the Pros in the show pen.
